About WalkInReady
WalkInReady is a study aid for licence, permit and certification knowledge tests, and a product of Bottomley Enterprises. We write every question from the public source that the real test is drawn from, and every answer names the passage or regulation that proves it.
Where the questions come from
Driver permit tests: the driver manual that each state publishes. Motorcycle tests: the state motorcycle manual. CDL tests: the commercial driver manual and 49 CFR.
Amateur radio: the current NCVEC question pools. US citizenship: the USCIS civics questions. FAA tests: the FAA handbooks, 14 CFR and, for the Control Tower Operator test, FAA Order JO 7110.65.
OSHA 10 and 30: 29 CFR 1910 and 1926. Boating: the Navigation Rules (33 CFR 83). USCG captain and rating modules: 33 and 46 CFR.
How we check the questions
Each state-law question carries the passage of the state manual that proves its answer. Each time we build the site, a check looks for every one of these passages, word for word, in the current manual. If a passage is not found, the build stops.
We also review each question against its source for a wrong answer key, a second correct option, an unclear question, or an answer that the wording gives away. We test this review with questions that we know are wrong, to make sure that it finds them.
How the practice works
Study mode uses spaced repetition: it shows a question again just before you are likely to forget it. Read mode lists every question with its answer and its source. The mock test uses the size and pass mark of the real test when the rules give them. When they do not, the course page tells you that the mock test is a practice format.
The readiness estimate shows how much of the material you know. It is not a prediction of your result on the real test.
What we are not
We are not a government agency, and no agency endorses or approves us. Rules and manuals change. Before your test, confirm the current requirements with the agency that gives it.
Corrections
If a question disagrees with its source, the source is right. Tell us through the contact page and we will correct the question.

Are these the questions on the real test?
The amateur radio pools and the USCIS civics questions are published lists, so those courses use the real questions. For other tests the agency does not publish its questions, so we write ours from the same manual or regulation that the test is drawn from.
Is WalkInReady part of the DMV, the FAA or another agency?
No. WalkInReady is an independent study aid. No agency endorses or approves it.
