This course is for anyone who applies for, or holds, a notary public commission in Maryland. The commissioning office is the Maryland Secretary of State (Governor appoints).
Maryland requires an exam before a first commission. Maryland's notary exam: 20 questions, 16 to pass. Maryland publishes the question count and requires 80% to pass. The rules set 20 questions as the minimum, drawn from a bank of at least 50. The state requires an approved course before you apply.
