About This Test

This course is for anyone who prepares for the FAA Control Tower Operator (CTO) certificate under 14 CFR 65 subpart B, whether a new tower controller, a contract tower trainee or a military controller. 14 CFR 65.35 is the syllabus: the flight rules of part 91, airport traffic control procedures and subpart B itself, en route procedures, communications procedures, flight assistance, air navigation and aviation weather.

The written test is a paper test given by a Designated CTO Examiner, not a computer test at a testing center. The FAA requires 70% to pass, which is 42 of 60. The FAA does not publish the question count; this mock test uses 60 questions, our choice.

The written test is given as the regulation requires; your facility or training program tells you where and when.
