This course is for workers who handle unpackaged food, utensils, or surfaces that touch food. It teaches practices from a national model. State and local rules control work in each location. This version adds Illinois training rules.

Illinois requires food handler training for covered paid workers. Restaurant training certificates are valid for three years. The state sets no minimum passing score for an approved program. Check Illinois training rules.
